Scholarship applications can be submitted at any time and are often submitted after completing the application for admission to the University of Otago. Scholarship applications can be submitted at any time. A number of significant considerations about the application procedure are discussed below:
- In the event that a student's application for admission to their desired programme has been granted and they are found to be eligible for the scholarship, they will be sent an invitation to submit an application for the scholarship.
- Applicants who intend to earn a Master's degree, including the enrollment paper, before enrolling in the thesis must apply only after the papers have been completed and approved.
- Students will receive an invitation only when they have completed their enrolment in a thesis for their Master's degree.
#SELECTION PROCESS
Many factors influence the decision on who will receive the scholarship award and who will not. The majority of the time, academic performance is taken into consideration while making a selection decision. The International Master's Research Scholarship at the University of Otago is given on the basis of the following criteria:
- Applications without a master's degree will be selected based on the grades received on advanced level papers in the most relevant degree.
- Applicants who have received a degree from any university will be evaluated by calculating their grade point average (GPA) based on the grades shown on the transcripts of the applicant's most relevant coursework.
- Any proficiency certificates or papers that indicate a pass/fail result will not be taken into consideration for the computations.
- The commitment and dedication of the applicant to the research project.
Following an evaluation of the applicants' submissions, the Head of Department makes recommendations and assigns a rating to those who have applied. It is necessary for applicants to accept a scholarship offer within the time range provided by the scholarship provider in the offer.
#GRANT DETAILS
The International Master's Research Scholarship at the University of Otago is awarded to eight recipients each year from the international master's studies programme at the university. The prize comes in the form of a discount in tuition costs of up to 15,000 New Zealand dollars. In addition, recipients are entitled to receive a monthly living stipend, which is paid out in equal amounts each month.
The scholarship offer for an overseas master's degree must be accepted or denied within the time frame mentioned in the scholarship offer. If you do not accept or decline the scholarship offer, you will forfeit your scholarship award. Following acceptance of the scholarship, the student is required to begin the degree programme no later than the date specified in the offer letter.
#Terms and Conditions
There are various criteria and conditions that must be met in order for the scholarship award to be valid. The following conditions are described in greater detail:
- The Master's scholarship is available to students who are enrolled part-time or full-time in the programme. Part-time scholarships, on the other hand, are only offered in circumstances where a full-time programme is not feasible.
- Awarded students must do research in Dunedin, the University of Otago, Christchurch, or Wellington, unless they have received prior approval from the scholarship committee to conduct research in another location.
- The Master's scholarship is provided for a period of one full year or until the thesis is submitted, whichever is the shorter period. For the purpose of this fellowship, only students who are in their first year of their thesis will be considered.
- Students who have been registered for at least two months may be eligible for a scholarship for a shorter period of time than the standard three-year award.
- During the program's duration, it is not authorized to use the scholarship reward for abroad residence.
Following the award of the scholarship, the scholarship applicant is subject to the following conditions regarding additional income:
- In order to be eligible for the University of Otago International Master's Research Scholarship, a student must not hold any other scholarships that are worth more than half of the amount of emolument earned from the scholarship. Scholarships are not included in this scenario if you get any special funding for research, travel, or other expenses that are not directly related to your research.
- Any full-time scholarship winner will not be given employment for more than 10 hours per week for a period of one year following receipt of the scholarship. Except for this, there are no further restrictions on the income of recipients, as long as they continue to make adequate progress in their academic studies.
- In order to be eligible for the scholarship funds, employees of the University of Otago must be enrolled in a master's degree programme.
It should be emphasized that the scholarship does not apply to any papers that are taken in addition to a full-time thesis course at the university. As a result, the scholarship grant will cover tuition costs at the domestic fee rate, i.e. the New Zealand student charge, resulting in a payment of the remaining amount that is significantly less expensive. The tuition fees for international students in New Zealand are greater than those for local students, making a scholarship an essential part of their educational experience in the country.
