UNIVERSITY OF AUCKLAND INTERNATIONAL STUDENT EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP
In order to encourage new international students of high caliber to enroll in undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the University of Auckland, the University of Auckland International Student Excellence Scholarship is offered to deserving applicants. The scholarship accepts applications from all eligible students twice a year, on a bi-annual basis.
#The following are some of the advantages of the University of Auckland International Student Excellence Scholarship:
- It is open to all international students with the exception of nationals, permanent residents, and holders of resident visas in New Zealand and Australia.
- Bi-annually, up to 50 scholarships will be offered to deserving students (Pertaining to the fact that whether the candidate is starting his or her studies in Semester 1 or Semester 2).
- The scholarship is worth up to 10,000 New Zealand dollars and is available for both postgraduate and undergraduate education.
- When used to pay for fees linked with an awardee's programme of study, the payments made under the provisions of this Scholarship are not subject to tax liability.
Scholarship recipients will be asked to sign agreements stating that they will adhere to the Scholarship's rules and regulations, and that they will notify the Scholarships Office of any changes in their enrollment or financial assistance status.
#ELIGIBILITY
Students from all over the world who are neither nationals nor permanent residents of New Zealand or Australia are eligible to apply for this scholarship. In addition to this, international students must meet the following qualifying requirements:
- Enrolled as ‘on Campus’ registrations.
- Applicants must be undertaking any one of these:

- PGDip
- Masters (taught) of 120 points or more
- An undergraduate degree with overseas secondary or post-secondary qualifications.
- Must have an academic GPE score of 6.0
- Applicants must be either
- New full-fee paying international student who has received an unconditional offer, or
- Applicants must be an English Language Academy (ELA) student who has received a conditional offer, or
- Commencing undergraduate or postgraduate degree at University of Auckland
- Applicants must meet the minimum English language proficiency requirement:
Students who are studying online as a result of border restrictions imposed as a result of COVID-19 will be considered to be "on campus" for the purposes of this Scholarship programme.
#Eligible courses
#Applicants are ineligible if they meet any of the following criteria:
- Students who have already begun their studies at the University of Auckland are eligible to apply.
- Students enrolled in a Research Masters programme or a Business Masters programme at the Graduate School of Management will receive a master's degree in research (GSM).
- UP Education and Taylors College undergraduate students, as well as New Zealand secondary-school graduates, are among those who will be participating in the study abroad programme.
- Students who enroll in distant education programmes will be ineligible to submit an application.

#APPLICATION PROCESS
Applications for the University of Auckland International Student Excellence Scholarship will be accepted starting about 6 weeks before the deadline for submission (Semester I: November 21 & Semester II: April 20).
Documents Required
- Copy of their Birth Certificate
- Letter of recommendation
- Certificates or degree of prior study
- Copy of passport
- Scorecard of English language proficiency
- Letter of Application
- Copy of their Citizenship Certificate
#SELECTION PROCESS
In order to encourage new international undergraduate and postgraduate students to study in New Zealand, the University of Auckland is happy to offer the International Student Excellence grant. The candidates are chosen solely on the basis of their qualifications.

- quality of the letter of application
- academic merit
In addition, the nation of origin of the applicant is taken into consideration by the selection committee. The value of the Scholarship is paid as a compulsory fee credit towards the first semester of study at the University of Auckland, and is credited to the student's account.
Please keep in mind that the Scholarship will not be deferred till the following semester. It will be necessary to submit a new Scholarship application.
