TOP STUDENT CITIES IN AUSTRALIA

In terms of higher education and living standards, Australia has some of the best cities in the world. It includes both rural and urban settings that will astound us. Did you know that after Athens, Greece, Melbourne and Victoria have the world's largest Greek population? While studying at one of Australia's finest universities, you might learn a lot of intriguing information about the country. Studying in Australia is a cultural as well as an educational experience, as the country has some of the most diverse cultures in the world.

#MELBOURNE

Melbourne is regarded as Australia's most student-friendly city. In Melbourne, there are about 270,000 university students, with more than a third of them being international students (91,000). For a variety of factors, Melbourne is also Australia's most livable city. The arts, fashion, and cultural events are all part of the city's fabric, and the city encourages artists to thrive. Self-expression can be seen in the country's street art, alternative fashion, live music, and festivals. It's a culture that meshes well with the tastes of the student body. There is no shortage of low-cost, non-manufactured entertainment. There are art-filled public areas, specialized bars with free live music, and inexpensive cafes serving authentic Asian or fusion cuisine. While culture is one of the reasons why so many students choose Melbourne as their home, the city also offers practical benefits to students. It boasts a well-connected public transportation system that includes trains, trams, buses, and taxis. Traveling from the city's center and inner reaches is generally simple and inexpensive. There is also a combination of high-density and low-density blocks around the city center, which adds to the city's diversity. Students are usually able to find affordable housing within a short commute of their studies. Staying in Melbourne might be expensive, but there are a range of student discounts available to help you save. Student discounts in Melbourne can be used to purchase technology like laptops and smartphones, data services, movies, household items, clothing, food, fitness discounts, and even vacation discounts. This method is usually simple and only requires your student ID, but it may also require a valid email address and registration with that particular service in some situations. With eight universities in the area, students have a diverse selection of educational options.

  • Victoria University
  • RMIT University
  • Deakin University
  • La Trobe University
  • The University of Melbourne
  • Monash University
  • The University of Divinity
  • Swinburne University of Technology

 #ADELAIDE

Adelaide is the sole metropolis in South Australia's semi-arid state. Around 70,000 people attend university in Adelaide, with nearly 20,000 international students. Because of its low accommodation prices, Adelaide is the city of choice for many international students. The city boasts four universities, which is appropriate for its size. In Adelaide, students may want to live near the city centre because it provides easy access to facilities and nightlife, as well as putting them within walking distance of their classes for a large portion of the student population. They can, on the other hand, opt to live in the suburbs for practical reasons, as the suburbs provide low-cost housing and simple parking. Because to the city's low-density structure, public transportation is limited in many areas. Adelaide Metro operates a city-wide bus system, an inner-city tram loop, and the Adelaide-Glenelg Tram. Glenelg, a beachside suburb of Adelaide, is a favourite weekend destination. It offers a number of restaurants and cafes within walking distance of the beach. These universities provide a diverse range of degrees and have a large number of international students. These are the following:

  • The University of Adelaide
  • Torrens University
  • Flinders University
  • The University of South Australia

#PERTH

Because all of Perth's universities are located outside of the city center, student life has a suburban feel to it. Students like to reside within walking or bike distance of their classrooms. Public transportation is also available, with frequent bus service on weekdays. The social component of student life, which tends to be more campus than city oriented, is often well supported by institutions. There are numerous sports groups to join at colleges, and student unions host a variety of events.

Perth also offers a number of retail, dining, and entertainment areas. Perth's living costs are rather expensive. After Sydney, it is the most expensive city in the world. However, the high living costs reflect a strong local economy and job market. Perth is the capital of Western Australia, a huge, semi-arid state that is also a popular study abroad destination, with 35,000 international students attending four universities.

  • Murdoch University
  • Edith Cowan University
  • The University of Western Australia
  • Curtin University

#BRISBANE

The majority of Brisbane's university students live in the inner suburbs, where the majority of teaching facilities are located. The area of St Lucia, which houses the main campus of the University of Queensland, has the highest population of students. Within Brisbane's inner city, which is relatively compact and pedestrian-friendly, there are strong public transportation options. Bicycling is also a prominent mode of transportation. Despite the fact that Brisbane is mountainous, there are substantial cycle trails on both sides of the Brisbane River. The majority of residents travel by automobile. Brisbane, Queensland's capital and Australia's third-largest city, is home to at least 100,000 university students from various institutions, including the city's three major universities.

  • The University of Queensland
  • Griffith University
  • The Queensland University of Technology

#SYDNEY

Sydney, the capital of New South Wales and Australia's largest city, is home to six large institutions, each with over 30,000 students enrolled. It is one of the most costly cities in the world to live in, but it also has one of the highest median salaries. Sydney also has a plethora of entertainment options, including every major musical, theater, and other form of entertainment that visits Australia. Due to a continual influx of immigrants over many years, Sydney has a rich cultural mix of ethnicities. This is evident in Sydney's diversified, inventive, and competitive restaurant sector. Sydney, on the other hand, is a congested and expensive city. Sydney property costs are costly, especially if you want to dwell in the city centre. Sydney's public transportation is unreliable, and the roads are frequently congested. Sydney is clearly an expensive location to live for a university student, but there are some advantages. To begin with, university campuses are typically placed in inner-city districts, providing easy access to a variety of cultural attractions as well as beach access. Sydney's universities are well-known for their academic research. In terms of international rankings, four (out of six) of Sydney's universities are among the top ten in Australia.

  • Australian Catholic University
  • University of Sydney
  • Macquarie University
  • University of Technology, Sydney
  • The University of New South Wales
  • Western Sydney University

#WOLLONGONG

Wollongong is known to have an outstanding study and living environment. It is a pleasant area to live in because of its natural surroundings, mild climate, and tiny population. It is also well connected to a large city and has strong educational standards. It is the most livable small city in Australia and the greatest small city for students. The University of Wollongong is one of the best universities in Australia. It has a strong research reputation and is highly regarded by both domestic and international students, as its alumni are successful in obtaining work or continuing their education. The University of Wollongong is chosen by a large percentage of students studying abroad in Australia, particularly at the postgraduate level. Because of its immigration history, the city provides a wide choice of economical eating alternatives, with strong influences from the Mediterranean, Eastern Europe, and Asia. Students get a discount at the pubs, and Wednesday is designated as "student night." Students with automobiles can easily visit Wollongong and its surrounding areas because the city is located along a lengthy coastal drive (the Grand Pacific Drive). Students who do not walk or cycle to campus can take advantage of public transportation. Between the university and the city center, a free city loop bus runs.

#CANBERRA

Canberra, Australia's capital, is another great small city to live in for students. The city is a pleasant area to live and study, and it draws a large number of international students. It has a great infrastructure and a lot of open space. The city is spread out over a huge region, with large swaths of territory designated as parks and wildlife reserves. With a total enrollment of roughly 35,000 students, the universities are very modest by Australian standards. Around a quarter of students at both campuses are international students. Canberra is a peaceful city with an excellent road system that allows residents to commute quickly from Civic land to the suburbs. The suburbs are self-contained, with mini commercial malls, shopping centres, parks, and playgrounds strewn across the city. The suburban lifestyle of Canberra has little impact on students because numerous universities are located near the Civic. The combination of Asian and European restaurants, Irish and boutique bars, and nightclubs in Canberra is quite usual. It also features licenced clubs with virtually no membership fees and low-cost meals and drinks. It also boasts a study-friendly environment because it is largely free of distractions. Within the city, the parks create a sense of tranquilly. Canberra is home to two universities, both of which are only a short distance apart. These are the following:

  • The University of Canberra
  • Australian National University (ANU)

#HOBART

For students seeking for a less expensive city, Hobart can be an excellent option. It has one of the most affordable housing expenses among university cities. The University of Tasmania (UTAS) has its main campus in Hobart, which also accommodates the majority of Tasmania's 20,000 university students. The University of Tasmania is the sole university in Hobart and Tasmania. It has locations all around the state and offers a wide range of general and specialized courses. International students account for more than one out of every five students. UTas offers a wide range of distance education courses in addition to a large study abroad programme. Student housing is often plentiful, which helps to compensate for the city's lack of good public transportation. Away from the main roads, buses can be difficult to locate. Students frequently live in shared houses between the university and the city, allowing them to walk to "everything."

#THE GOLD COAST

If you can locate a suitable course, the Gold Coast is a dream city for university education. The city is Australia's most visited tourist destination, as well as a growing study destination. It boasts beautiful weather, beaches, and plenty of things to do. CQ University and Southern Cross University are two of Australia's most affordable universities for overseas students. Despite the high renting prices, tuition fees at public universities are very modest, and students can save thousands of Australian dollars compared to students in Sydney or Melbourne. The Gold Coast offers fantastic weather, beaches, canals, and nature reserves, as well as entertainment and nightlife for university students. On the Gold Coast, which is home to four Australian universities, there are over 30,000 university students.

  • Bond University
  • Southern Cross University
  • Griffith University
  • CQ University
