BTech in Germany

After finishing the undergraduate program that lasts between three and four years and getting a BTech degree from Germany, a person has a decent chance of finding work that pays approximately 11,000 euros per month. This is because Germany is one of the most advanced economies in the world. In German universities, students can get a Bachelor of Science degree in addition to a Bachelor of Engineering degree in this subject. In addition, throughout each academic year, employers are permitted to engage international students for a maximum of ninety days of work to assist international students in managing their day-to-day living expenditures. Under these circumstances, it is reasonable to anticipate a daily revenue of between 80 and 90 Euros on average.

  • A Bachelor of Technology degree from a German university can be earned with a variety of specialties, including mechanical engineering, software engineering, civil engineering, and others.
  • One of the most popular degrees chosen by students from other countries is the Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering which is offered in Germany.
  • The average monthly cost of living in Germany is somewhere in the range of 800–900 Euros.

 #Why study BTech in Germany?

Software developer, electronics engineer, information technology analyst, and structural engineer are just a few of the jobs that are included on the list of the top 10 most sought-after careers in Germany, according to deutschland.de.

  • Research and development in the fields of engineering and information technology receives 2.8% of Germany's GDP in funding.
  • In Germany's higher education institutions that specialize in engineering, international students make up one-third of the total student body.
  • Universities in Germany produce approximately 40,000 engineers each year from their student body.
  • There is a significant shortage of engineers in the Hamburg and Stuttgart areas.
  • Engineers in Germany can make up to 50,000 Euros per year with a minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in the field.
  • Universities in Germany do not charge students tuition as part of their "no tuition fee" policy. Because the majority of institutions receive funding from the state, they simply require a small payment for administrative costs.
  • When compared to other popular student locations, such as BTech from Canada, it is now simpler to enroll in and complete a B.Tech program without the need to worry about any financial obstacles.
  • There are six universities located in Germany that are ranked among the top 100 universities in the world; these universities are all publicly supported and subsidized by the German government.
  • On the list of countries throughout the world in which people feel the safest, this nation comes in at number 14 overall. Even though it is decreasing on an annual basis, the crime rate in Germany is approximately 6,000 offenses committed per 100,000 persons.

#Admissions

To be eligible for Btech in Germany, prospective students need to have completed a minimum of 13 years of formal education with a cumulative GPA of at least 67% in their senior secondary diplomas.

Where to apply?

The international office of the university's website allows prospective students to submit their applications directly to the office. There is an option in the form of a centralized admission site that is available for international students to use. This portal is managed by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), although not every university makes use of it.

 #Admission requirements

The following are some fundamental conditions for eligibility:

  • A total of thirteen years spent obtaining a formal education
  • You need to have a grade point average of at least 67 percent in senior high school (may be different for some universities)
  • Must achieve a passing score on the "feststellungsprüfung," which is an entrance exam that students are required to take to demonstrate that they have completed a preparatory course of studienkolleg.

Language requirements

  • Students are required to take both the "Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang" (German Language Test for University Admission) and the "TestDaF" (Test of German as a Foreign Language) to be considered for admission into German universities if the program is taught in Germany.
  • Students are required to receive a passing score on an English proficiency test, such as the IELTS or the TOEFL if the program is instructed in the English language. The following are the minimum score requirements for admission to the majority of BTech programs in Germany:
    • 6.5- IELTS and 220- TOEFL-PBT

#Cost of studying

The total cost of studying in Germany can be broken down into three primary categories: costs incurred before arrival, tuition fees, and living expenses. The tuition fee policy in Germany is one of the lowest in the world or it does not exist at all. The cost of receiving an education in Germany can be kept within one's financial means with some prudent management. In comparison to the cost of living in other European countries, Germany is quite affordable. The average cost of living in Germany each month is approximately 850 euros.

 Pre-arrival expenses

When applying to a university, students are needed to pay the following fees to proceed with the application process:

Type of Expense

Cost (in EUR)

German Student Visa Application

75

Health Insurance

1236 - 1341

IELTS Fee

229 - 233

TOEFL Fee

228

Airfare

250 - 600

 #Tuition fees

The vast majority of universities in Germany do not impose any tuition fees on their students. On the other hand, there is a per-semester cost that is about equivalent to 200 Euros. The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology charges its Bachelor of Technology students the highest yearly tuition rate in Germany, which is 17,300 EUR.

 #Cost of living

The notion that living expenses are exceptionally high in Germany is nearly entirely untrue. In comparison to the costs of living in other parts of the EU, Germany's are significantly lower. A student in Germany will spend between 8000 and 9000 Euros per year on their living expenses on average. The country has outstanding systems for public transportation. It comes to about 44 Euros for one person, with an additional 6 Euros required for each additional individual.

The maximum number of people allowed in a group is 4. Since Germany's public transportation system receives a significant amount of government funding, traveling throughout the country is made easier as a result. In addition, to reduce air pollution, the government of Germany is considering making all forms of public transportation completely free of charge. This will serve as an additional opportunity for the students to save money, which will be of great assistance in overcoming the monetary barrier.

 #Accommodation and food costs

The cost of housing consumes a sizeable portion of the students' available funds every month. Depending on the region, the monthly rent for a property in Germany ranges from approximately 300 to 550 Euros on average.

In Germany, there is a practice known as interim rental. If a student has plans to be gone for a predetermined amount of time, then he or she will re-rent the house to a new seeker at a more affordable rate. This enables newcomers to stay at a lower rent, which is helpful.

In addition to these, there is also a system of student residences that has a monthly fee of approximately 250 Euros. A little more than forty percent of international students choose to live in student housing.

Food is available at reasonable prices in Germany. A meal in a regular or inexpensive restaurant will cost you about ten Euros, and the majority of the eateries serve Indian food. Even if someone enjoys beer or wine, there is still no cause for alarm because there is nothing wrong with them. Around three euros is the going rate for a pint of beer.

 #Scholarships

The students who are enrolled in Germany's higher education institutions are a major focus of attention for the German government. A student in Germany can obtain a loan for their study with "zero interest" and a flexible repayment plan. The students have the option of delaying the repayment of their student loans for up to five years after they have received their degree.

In addition to this, the following is a list of the scholarships that are open to students from other countries who are studying in Germany:

 #Career prospects

A mechanical engineer in Germany may expect a monthly salary of approximately 11,100 Euros on average. The lowest pay comes in at around 5200 Euros per month, while the maximum salary is approximately 18000 Euros. The leading manufacturing sectors in Germany that provide career opportunities from the campus include Audi, BMW, and Bosch, amongst others.

After finishing the degree, it is not difficult to get work, and the pay is almost four times more than the average in the Indian corporate sector.

Following completion of a Bachelor of Technology degree in Germany, the following salaries can be expected:

Job Role

Average Annual Salary (in EUR)

Mechanical Engineering

53,000

Electrical & Electronics Engineering

52,000

Chemical Engineering

There aren't too many people who aren't German living in Germany, thus the few businesses that do recruit foreigners and those who speak English get compensated for it. In addition to this, a non-German candidate who is hired by a German company receives about a year's worth of training for them to become fluent in German. Therefore, finding work in Germany is not something that should ever be a cause for fear because the country offers a large number of chances.
