IS THERE ANY AGE LIMIT TO STUDY IN SWITZERLAND?

Switzerland is famous for its chocolates and ski slopes and has been a very popular holiday destination for tourists across the world. It has also established itself as an attractive option for higher education with excellent courses and a multitude of research opportunities. With a high quality of life and a central location in Europe, it is a perfect base from which you can leverage openings across the continent. With 248,000 students registered for the 2017/2018 autumn semester, higher education is continuing to grow in Switzerland.

To be eligible to study in Switzerland, students will be required to possess a valid passport and student visa. The ideal way to go about your education would be to enroll in a full-time course. The visa requirements aren’t very strict apart from this and with a mix of French, German, and Italian cultures; Switzerland is welcoming of all people.

#AGE LIMIT: DO YOU HAVE TO WORRY?

Getting a visa for your bachelor’s or master’s degree in Switzerland is not very difficult. However, if you are over the age of 30 and have an advanced degree, there may be some issues in processing your paperwork. Such students are asked to submit additional paperwork and it is much more complicated for their visa to get approved. A formal letter of enrollment is required to be submitted for your student visa to be processed. Switzerland has a high cost of living so students need to bear that in mind while planning their accommodation and transportation.

Violation of visa norms is a serious issue and students found to be in breach face serious consequences and cancellation of their student visa. Foreign students can work for a maximum of 15 hours a week during their studies and there is no time limit on semester breaks. Non-EU/EFTA region students, however, must wait 6 months after their course commences before securing employment.
