Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship
The Higher Education Authority provides financial support through the Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship Program (HEA). Under the project, 60 scholarships will be awarded to qualifying students who want to study for a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD at an Irish higher education institution.
- Available to all international students starting their studies in one of Ireland's universities.
- A $10,000 scholarship is available for a year of study in Ireland.
- Additionally, all tuition and other registration fees are waived in full.
- Scholarship applications must be submitted by March 27, 2024, at 5 p.m. (Irish Time).
- The recipients must begin their studies in September or October 2024.
The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship is open to individuals offered a place at an appropriate Irish higher education institution. By June 1, 2020, the candidate will receive notification of the scholarship award.
#Eligibility
Students who apply for the same academic year as their desired year of study are given priority by GOI-IES. An applicant for the Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship must meet the following requirements:
- be a foreign student (not from the EU/EEA or Switzerland) applying for full-time admission to a relevant Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program at one of Ireland's qualified universities or colleges.
- have received a conditional or unconditional admission offer from a Higher Education Institution (HEI) for
The final year of a bachelor's degree program
A year in a master's program that is taught
A year's worth of research
Furthermore, a candidate must:
- possess superiority (academically, personally, professionally, creatively)
- demonstrate good communication skills
- demonstrate his or her participation in extracurricular activities ( like humanitarian work; politics- local, national, international; arts; sports)
- possess a compelling reason for studying in Ireland that demonstrates how a GOI-IES will help them achieve their long-term objectives.

#Application Process
Applicants must complete an online scholarship application to be considered for the Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship. Before applying for the award, students should double-check the course and its eligibility.
- Fill out the application form on the official website of the Higher Education Authority.
- Please submit the following documents:
A)Academic achievement, professional accomplishments, or job
experience
B) Answers to the three questions posed in the personal statement
C) There are two references.
The selection criteria include a marking scheme with a total of 100 points. Each criterion has a certain number of points. For example, applicants who meet the academic and job experience requirements are given 40 points, while personal statements are given 45 points (15 points each) and references are given 15 points.
#Selection Process
The HEA will form an impartial International Assessment Panel to review applications for the Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship based on the 2020 Call's criteria.
- All applications will be evaluated solely based on the information submitted to the HEA at the time of submission.
- Priority is given to students who do not have access to any other scholarships or sources of support.
- HEA screens applications for eligibility first. Following that, the HEI provides comments on the international strategic goal for
a) Applicants' country of origin
b) The proposed research program
c) Field of study of the applicant
d) Institutional strength
- The Assessment Panel will then evaluate each application by two remote, impartial members. Independently, points will be assigned based on the evaluation criteria.
- The top twelve ranked applications will be automatically funded based on excellence after all of the applications and scores have been evaluated.
- The remaining 48 will be distributed according to the institution, field level of study, societal impact, and other factors.
#Grant Details
Qualifying international students can now sponsor their education in Ireland through the Government of Ireland's International Studies Scholarship. International students from non-EU/EEA countries are eligible for a one-year scholarship to study at a university in Ireland that offers a full-time program. Students who apply for the current school year 2020-2021 will be given priority under the scheme.
- A scholarship fund of Euro 10,000 is provided for one year of study in Ireland.
