DAAD Scholarships: How to Apply Successfully
Who is eligible for DAAD scholarship?
DAAD SCHOLARSHIPS
A total of over 100,000 scholarships are awarded each year by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), allowing both German and international students the opportunity to complete their master's, doctoral, and postdoctoral studies at the lowest possible cost. Scholarship applicants are entitled to a monthly allowance of at least 750 EUR (888 USD) each month for the duration of their studies in Germany, which varies based on the scholarship awarded to them.
- Indian students are eligible for 25 DAAD scholarships in 2021, out of a total of 188 award opportunities offered.
- Applicants who are eligible must have finished their previous degree with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 85 percent.
- A minimum of two years of work experience is required for each candidate. This may have come from conducting field research, working, or serving as a graduate assistant.
- Payments for health insurance as well as travel expenses are also covered for all scholarship holders who receive DAAD funding.
- An invitation letter from their supervisors at one of the approved German universities is required for all applicants.
While the specific benefits, restrictions, and selection criteria for each DAAD scholarship programme differ, the overall minimum eligibility requirements and application standards remain the same for all of the programmes.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Because there are more than 100 scholarship programmes available for international students, the qualifying conditions for each programme vary greatly from one another. - Academic Grades: Minimum aggregate of 8.5 CGPA or 85% or equivalent depending upon the applied degree.
- Work Experience: At least 2 years of work experience, research work, teaching/graduate assistantship.
In addition to completing the requirements outlined above, prospective candidates must produce proof of accommodation in order to be eligible for visa insurance coverage.
