Japanese universities, vocational schools, and language schools accept students from different countries who have a valid student visa granted to them for the entire duration of their course. The average duration of a Japanese student visa is from 6 months to 2 years depending on the course length. You can renew your student visa for a further period and if you are able to prove a reason for extending your visa you will be granted one depending on the fulfillment of other requirements. Students visa permits you to work for 28 hours per week while college is active and 8 hours per day during vacations. However, only limited types of jobs are included in this category. The permission to work while studying in Japanese universities will be mentioned on your visa document. Once you receive official acceptance from a school in Japan it might take up to 5 weeks to obtain Certificate of Eligibility (a pre-visa permission). You need to submit all the necessary documents to the Immigration Bureau of Japan and it may take up to 3 months for your visa application to be processed and for you to obtain a valid student visa.
